The return of In-room dining

In-room dining is no longer the often-forgotten department, but is starting to shine, especially with new hygiene and distancing protocols.

Room service is where it all began for IHS, and we are delighted that our genesis range is contributing to this shift in F&B service.

As hotel operations begin to return to “normal” and the much-loved buffet is making its comeback, there will still be many guests that will prefer to take their meals and drinks in-room, giving them greater peace of mind, and hotels are listening.

“When the property re-opened, we saw the utilisation by hotel guests more than double…In-room dining served more covers than any restaurant in the hotel.” says Kevin Fisher, Director In-room Dining at Wynn and Encore Las Vegas.

“Guests now mostly prefer to have their meals in-room.” adds Shibin Joy, FIVE Palm Jumeirah’s Restaurant Manager, In-room Dining.

When social distancing saw the temporary closure of many F&B outlets, room service offerings were expanded beyond the typical club sandwich, burger and fries (and don’t get us wrong, we love a great club sandwich!). Hotel restaurant signature dishes are now being added to the repertoire and the cocktail bar experience replicated in-room.

These experiences require the right equipment to meet and even surpass guests’ expectations.

We love the re-imagining of the heady days when in-room dining was a restaurant-like experience, full of theatre and luxury – the flutter of crisp linen, beautiful silverware and white glove service.

IHS has every aspect of IRD covered – traditional tray, to trolley, to the ultimate Butler service.

No longer a compromise, but a memorable feature of guests’ stays, our systems ensure the ultimate IRD experience. We provide perfect temperature control and the highest levels of hygiene management.

These are tools your service staff will be proud to use and not just hope the tablecloth will cover the unsightly industrial look of others on the market.
