Staff summer breaks and 'increased productivity'

That's the message from the Accommodation Association of Australia ahead of the Christmas-New Year period.
 
"Over the holiday period, the best way for Australian businesses to increase productivity is for them to actively encourage their staff to take a break," said the Association's Chief Executive Officer, Richard Munro.
 
"Taking a break helps to enhance the wellbeing of employees and by allowing them to spend quality time with friends and family, which will ultimately benefit business and the broader economy in the long-term."
 
For Australians who would like to travel somewhere for a break over the holiday period, Munro said it's not too late to book rooms at many of Australia's major summer destinations.
 
"While the popularity of holidaying at a beach in Australia continues to grow, it would be wrong to suggest that all of the popular locations are fully booked," he said.
 
"There are still rooms available in many coastal towns and cities across Australia and the Accommodation Association is encouraging anyone who is thinking about travelling to these areas to check with accommodation businesses in those areas about availability, rather than presume they are already booked out.
 
"And by enquiring and booking directly through the individual websites of accommodation businesses, consumers will maximise their chances of receiving the best deal.
 
"Australians should take advantage of the holiday period by taking a break from work, even if it's only for a short period."
