If an image speaks a thousand words, imagine the promotional possibilities of showcasing your technology in action, or verbally and visually sharing your knowledge with an audience of eager buyers.

Informative demonstration videos are a direct avenue to B2B marketing success, and fortunately they are not as difficult to create or share as you might think.

Following these simple steps will help you reach your audience in a whole new, highly effective way.

1. Plan your video
Decide how and where you will be filming your product in action. It could be at a customer site or in your own warehouse – either way it's a good idea to use a well-lit space. Next write a script (if you feel you need one) and storyboard the process with whoever will be operating the camera.

2. Choose your technology
From a fancy digital video recorder to the basic smartphone, your options are as broad as your imagination and you certainly don't need to break the company budget. Ask around and you'll probably find a colleague with decent equipment, but most phones are more than capable of getting the job done. Down the track, when you're regularly filming new videos, you might consider a technology upgrade.

3. Film away
Now for the fun part, you get to talk about your great products or showcase them doing what they do best. This is an opportunity to educate and excite potential customers, so speak with enthusiasm and focus on the key attributes or benefits. The person in charge of filming should ensure the battery is fully charged and take a 'test' video before trying out the real thing.

4. Edit if needed
Add voice overlay or background music and eliminate some of those pesky 'ums' and 'ahs' or long pauses if you are using fancy technology. If you're keeping it simple, you may want to go for a few takes so that you can choose the best one later.

5. Upload and publish
Upload it to YouTube or send it to us in one of these formats – MOV, MPEG4, AVI, WMV, MPEGPS, FLV, 3GPP, WebM – so we can upload it to our channel and publish it to your Storefront. If you manage your own Storefront you can easily add it yourself.
With a YouTube account it is easy to upload new videos straight from your computer. Here are some tips to help if you get stuck.
Congratulations on your fantastic new product demo video!
No doubt you're keen for your audience to watch the video you've just created. In your Online Management Area, open up the relevant product page and scroll down to the Video section. Insert the YouTube embed code (note: this is different to the video URL), add a snappy caption and click 'Save'. Don't hesitate to get in touch with your Content Manager if you're unsure.
