For many Australians summer, cricket and wine is a winning combination – and it seems Hardys agrees, with the well-known brand welcoming Australian cricketing legend Glenn McGrath as its official Hardys cricket ambassador from October 2014.

"Pigeon" as he is known to cricket-loving Aussies, will represent Hardys and its long-term brand partnership with Cricket Australia throughout the upcoming summer of cricket and beyond.

"Having Glenn McGrath as our Hardys cricket ambassador is an absolute honour. Glenn is nothing short of a legend of the game. He has determination, he has commitment and he appeals to the Australian public. He has abundant character and personality, and many of these traits are reflected in our wines," fifth-generation family member and Hardys global brand ambassador, Bill Hardy said.

International stage

"We are proud to partner with Glenn to share in the success that Australia's favourite sport, and arguably one of the world's favourite Australian wine brands have both achieved on the international stage.

"I look forward to sharing many a glass of Sir James Sparkling with Glenn."

McGrath will represent Hardys for the next two years as an extension of a three-year partnership with Cricket Australia, launched in late 2013.

"What makes Hardys an Australian icon is also what makes it so appealing. It's a brand with more than 160 years of history, and their passion and pride in winemaking is something I very much relate to and will be proud to represent as an ambassador," McGrath said.

Product launches

Off the pitch, Hardys is rolling out a number of product launches to expand its award-winning wine portfolio. The Chronicles, a regional range of four wines, including a Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Grigio, were released in nationally August. The Chronicles tells story of the late Thomas Hardy's entrepreneurial flair in establishing his renowned wine business.

Also released nationally in late September were the highly anticipated new vintages of Hardys' flagship range, the Thomas Hardy and Eileen Hardy wines, a range of four wines including, a Cabernet Sauvignon under the Thomas Hardy label and a Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz under the Eileen Hardy label. According to Hardys these wines are handcrafted using only the best quality, premium parcels of fruit.

From October, Hardys is introducing the Insignia range, a portfolio of three wines crafted to reflect the best regions of Australia – Chardonnay from Adelaide Hills, Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra and Shiraz from the Barossa, available nationally.
