China 'impressed' with Australian tourism offering

The Australia China Quality Tourism Experiences Dinner Dialogue was held in conjunction with the Australian government's very successful Australian Week in China.

Key themes discussed were growth of independent travel by Chinese citizens, demand for accredited quality assured product and the importance of the New China Tourism Law.

"The event went exceptionally well," said Chairman of the Accommodation of Australia, Garry Crockett.

"This was an important event allowing Australian tourism association leaders to engage with their Chinese counterparts, and build on Austrade and Tourism Australia's successful investment round table, business events showcase and the launch of TA's new FIT campaign."

Distinguished guests of the evening included Vice Chairman of the China National Tourism Administration and China National Tourism Association, Dr Wu Wenxue, along with other prominent Chinese tourism leaders.

The National Tourism Alliance (NTA), The Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) and the Tourism Transport Forum (TTF) were among other Australian industry association representatives in attendance, along with leaders from Tourism Australia.

Chairman of the National Tourism Alliance, John Hart, who co-hosted the dinner, said: "This provided a great opportunity to share Australia's quality tourism initiatives, particularly in relation to the launch of the new Restaurant Australia campaign."

China National Tourism Administration and those present thanked the Association for co-hosting this important industry event.
